Mystery Plum
Previous owners told me this tree was a pear. I could tell it wasn't. The first year it gave no fruit so I didn't learn much, but I pruned the base of the tree in the fall. Last year it produced only this single small plum, which some small animal ran off with before it ripened. So we pruned it pretty hard a week ago, hard especially for the flowering season, but still this year I think we'll get enough fruit to make a guess at identification. Right now the tree is just beginning to flower, one or two buds open on every few twigs. These flower images below are from last year.
