Mid-May in the front yard

Hello dear reader! It is 2 days before July (2019) and I am about to leap into the unknown and leave my happy CA home and probably register as a business in another state or country. I have many many posts part-written and unpublished from the past 2 years of weirdness (lost a job - got a job - lost a job for example, unfortunately neglected things like this website and everything else) so I will work on putting those up here before maybe revamping this as a business website with maybe these blogs as personal archived somewhere. maybe. rolling with the uncertainty, which I guess is already the style of this webspace. So maybe this is normal? Anyway, here are pictures from mid May this year in the yard. a few are a little out of focus (bluebells! ugh) but maybe something in here will strike your fancy. butter your bread. pitch your tent. float your boat. fertilize your garden.

I think. Is either star jasmine or confederate jasmine. Oh wait those are the same plant.

Thats right, the type of Chrysanthemum used to make pyrethrins to repel insects

Grevillea juniperina

Such pretty flowers. such prickly branches. such low maintenance. every year I plan to remove it but don’t actually do it, then I decorate it for winter holidays. It is glamorous and hazardous and I wish it was in focus here.

true salvia apiana, a great plant for this area. Looks grand and regal spreading across the yard. check out the cute bug friend hiding in the flower buds

Achillea millefolium

Common Yarrow. great plant, super low maintenance. Called plumajillo in some parts of SW USA, and herbal militaris from way back “in antiquity” (ok wikipedia, real specific). Is a lovely low-maintenance medicinal.

Salvia leucantha

Mexican bush sage. hummingbirds love it, live off it, live in it. Happily thrives and expands in neglected CA yards. I have to cut it back a few feet every year just to use the driveway. Easy to transplant too.
